AUDITION FOR “THE DROWSY CHAPERONE”

Open auditions will be held:

Sunday, September 8, 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM

Tuesday, September 10, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

 

Auditions will be held at WCLOC’s Grandview Playhouse at 21 Grandview Avenue, Worcester, MA.

 

The audition will include singing, dancing and cold readings. 

 

Call Backs, if needed, will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

 

Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and on Sundays, late afternoon to early evening until the second week in October, then they will switch to Sunday afternoons.     

 

Performances Dates: December 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15.

 

Vocal Audition Requirements:

For the vocal audition, please come prepared to sing 16 bars of a song from the 1920’s or 30’s, in the style of the show.  Please bring legible sheet music for the pianist as well.

Dance Audition Requirements:

Please wear comfortable clothes for the dance audition.  If you tap, please bring your tap shoes as well and flat dance shoes, character shoes, or sneakers. 

 

Cold Reading Requirements:

Man In Chair
Musical theatre aficionado who mourns the end of the Golden Era. He narrates the show as he listens to the record on vinyl.

Mrs. Tottendale
The air-headed, proper, and bossy host of the wedding.
Gender: Female
Age: 50 to 60

Underling
Mrs. Tottendale's savvy butler who is thrifty and stiff yet has an understated sense of humor.

Robert Martin
The dashing, ever-cheerful groom; played by matinee-idol Percy Hyman.
